12 Months Old

*Weight: 22 lbs. 14.8 oz 50th percentile *Height: 30 inches 50th percentile *Head Circumference: 80th percentile, can't remember the measurement. *Schedule: Nurse in the morning and at bedtime, sippy cups of cow's milk the rest of the day. *Sleep: Bedtime around 8-8:30 and wake usually between 7-7:30. Today he woke at 5:30am, but usually when he does that it is easy to get him to go back to sleep. This morning, not so much. I think he was just excited about his birthday! *Napping: 2 naps, sometimes just 1 nap a day, depending on what we are doing. If there is a lot going on Nick is always afraid he might miss something. If we are going somewhere we try to schedule him to sleep on the road, we have found that works well. *Spitting up: Started back spitting up some with the switch to cow's milk. Hope he will adjust and grow out of this. *Walking: Nick took 8 steps unassisted on 7/14/12. Everyday he is getting more and more confident. He still likes to crab walk on his hands and feet. He can go super FAST doing this! *Clothes: 12 months and some 18 months *Diapers: Size 3 *Still LOVES paci! *Teeth: 12 total, 6 on the top and 6 on the bottom. *Eczema: Almost completely gone. Fingers crossed it will stay away with the cold weather comes back. *Food: EVERYTHING! As much as we will give him. He loves bananas, chicken, and yogurt. *Talking: Nick can say Ma-Ma, Da-Da, Bye-Bye, and Ba-ba. He waves bye-bye. Today at supper he signed 'more' for the first time. *Clapped: Nick loves to clap his hands, he did this for the first time at his party, July 21.

*Weight: ~23 lbs. *Schedule: 6am-8am-ish: Nurse/ Breakfast 10:30-12:00-ish: Sippy Cup/Lunch 2-3pm: Sippy Cup/Snack 5:00-ish: Nurse/Supper 7:30-8pm: Nurse/8oz bottle of breastmilk *Sleep: 8pm till 6-7am *Napping: 2 naps, sometimes just 1 nap a day, depending on what we are doing. If there is a lot going on Nick is always afraid he might miss something. If we are going somewhere we try to schedule him to sleep on the road, we have found that works well. *Spitting up: I am very happy to report that we are on NO spit up meds and he seems to be spitting up much less. Hardly any to speak of. Hope it stays that way. *Cruising: Walking holding on to furniture and standing for a few seconds unassisted. Then he realizes he is doing it and sits down. *Climbing- Nick has learned to throw up his leg and climb. He recently climbed out of the bathtub, up from the sand onto the pier, and from the ground up on a lawn chair. *Clothes: 12 months and some 18 months *Diapers: Size 3 *Still LOVES paci! It is probably going to be a mess trying to take it away because he is attached to it. *Teeth: 10 total, 6 on top and 4 on the bottom, bottom 2 molars will be in any day. *Eczema: Much better! Still doing Rx cream on his knees they are very dry and rough, but they also may be because he crawls around on them all the time. *Food: Loves everything we give him and will eat until we stop feeding him. Nick is eating table food and prefers to feed himself rather than Mommy or Daddy feeding him. Nick can now suck from a straw and loves to do so. *Talking: Nick can say Ma-Ma, Da-Da, Bye-Bye, and Ba-ba. He waves bye-bye. *Chicago Trip: Mommy and Daddy left Nick for the first time for more than 1 night. We went to Chicago for Paul to attend the GMAC conference. I dropped Nick off with Giggi and Grandaddy on Tuesday night about 7:30 and picked him up from Gramma and Grandpa on Saturday morning about 8:30. It was a good break, but I was ready to see my Nickie-poo. He did great! I did good too, I realize that my marriage is very important. Paul and I needed that time. We walked a million miles, went on a boat tour, went to Cirque de Shanghi show on Navy Pier, and had romantic dinners.

Sometime he will even waive bye-bye, if we catch him in the right mood. *Family Trip: The weekend of our 6th anniversary, my teammate from work was getting married in Mt. Airy. So Grandpa, Gramma, Mommy, Daddy, and Nick made the trip. We did all the Andy Griffith/Mabery tourist attractions Saturday. Then Saturday night Paul and I went to the wedding and Grandpa, Gramma, and Nick played at the hotel. They went swimming in the indoor pool and had a pajama party in their hotel room so Mommy and Daddy could sleep late. Sunday, we went to Elkin to see my friend, Kali, and her family. She has 2 little boys one older than Nick and one younger. Their names are Maze and Jack Stone. Nick loved playing with them and was give-out when we left there.

9 Months Old

*Weight: 21 lbs. 6 oz (70th percentile) I have been following Nick’s weight as compared to my weight at his age with my baby book. We have been very similar until now. I weighed 9 lb 8.5 oz at birth and he weighed 9lb 6.3 oz. At 9 months I only weighed 19 lbs.!! I weighed 21 lbs at 1 year which Nick has already passed! Geez! Big boy! But he is healthy and that is all that matters! *Length: 28 inches (50th percentile) *Head Circumference: 46 cm (75th percentile) *Schedule: 6am-8am-ish: Nurse, 3T Rice Cereal or Oatmeal, Fruit 10:30-12:00-ish: Bottle (5oz-6oz)/Nurse, 3T Rice Cereal, Fruit or Vegetable 2-3pm-ish: Bottle (5oz)/Nurse (Sometimes doesn’t drink this one) 5:00-ish: Nurse, Container of Stage 3 dinner w/meat 7:30-8pm: Nurse *Sleep: 8pm till 6-6:30am *Napping: 2 naps, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, usually about 8:30-9am and 2pm. Nick sleeps between 1-2 hours. Usually in Gramma or Giggi’s arms!! Nick does not like to nap in the crib. *Spitting up: Switching to Prilosec (2.5 mL twice a day), we are going to try this for a month and see if it helps, if not, we are going back to Zantac. I am still hoping that he will grow out of this. In my baby book my mom wrote at 9 months: still spitting up! So hopefully around 1 year we will see this go away. *Cruising: Walking holding on to furniture and standing for a few seconds unassisted. *Clothes: 12 months and some 18 months *Diapers: Size 3 *Still LOVES paci and he can take it out and put it in all on his own. *Teeth: 7 total, 4 on top and 3 on the bottom (3 coming in) *Eczema: Trying a new cream, Tropazone. It is expensive but we are hoping it will do the trick. The doctor assured us that it is creamy rather than greasy like Aquaphor. *Lovies: Nick loves his Snoopy and purple elephant, and his dog named Blue at Gramma’s house *Food: Loves feeding himself, Nick wants everything Mommy and Daddy are eating. Doctor says begin modified table food. Nick likes everything we give him, recently he tried avocado, refried beans, and STRAWBERRIES!! Even though they made such a mess!! *Reading: Loves to be read to. Getting to the point where he likes to try to turn the pages, especially with his board books. *Immunizations: NONE!! YAY!! Mommy was very excited about his! However, at his 12 month appointment he has to have a finger prick and FOUR shots. *Games: Loves playing peek-a-boo, especially with Grandpa and his hat. Daddy even discovered he can play peek-a-boo himself when he was getting his PJs on one night. *Disposition: Nick is a HAPPY baby! Always laughing and smiling! *Mommy’s Milk: I did not pump during the middle of the night for the first time since I had mastitis when Nick was 2 weeks old on April 25, 2012!!! I wish I could say I slept like a baby and didn’t wake up once! Not so much! Maybe I will one day be able to sleep through the night again, when Nick goes off to college. This pump at 1-2am, first provided security that I would not get mastitis again (although I did), then it provided extra milk for his rice cereal. However, anyone that knows me knows just how much I have in the freezer. Now that Nick is 9-months I feel like I can back off the pumping and start to use my freezer stash. I just wanted to make sure we would make it to 1 year with Mommy’s milk!
